Thanks for the tips. I think I will re-pot and separate the offsets.

What is the typical form for this cactus? I've had it for about 6 years and during the first few years it had very poor sunlight (as you can tell by the skinny lower portion). As the light improved it got fatter and started clumping...but it also tipped over. If re-potted will the lower portion ever...

Re-pot or not?

I'd like some opinions on what to do with the cactus pictured below. As you can see its growing heavily to one side and the pot pretty much tips over when a fly lands on it. Should I re-pot, should I attempt to straighten, both or neither? Thank you in advance. http://img852.imageshack.us/img852/215...

After a long discussion last fall on this forum I settled with Escobaria sneedi, but I am still open on that one. Thanks for the advice though, I will try to get it some more light. It's hard living in the northern corner of a building. I joined the forum last fall, so I'm not that new. My cactus ha...

Is This Normal

My nice orange shaped Rebutia has grown a huge bulge on top. Is this normal?

On another note this cactus flowered last week when I was out of town and left the a/c off. My first flowering cactus.

Cactus Not Clumping

This cactus will not clump, it just wants to grow longer. All of these stems came from a very mature plant. I just pulled them out of the soil and stuck them in my pot. They seem to have no problem rooting or growing. In fact, they are several times bigger than the stems on the original plant, but t...

Thanks for all the help. I thought we had it nailed at the beginning, but clearly not.

The big one is about 2 inches tall, and each stem is between a 1/4 and a 1/2 inch. In other words...they are very small.

Interesting, the spines are certainly more similar to the M. vetula, but the growing habits resemble the Escobaria.

Well, this is just a small section of the parent plant. The original really looks like an Escobaria.

Escobaria

Pretty sure this is Escobaria. I just received it from a friend. Any guesses on the species?

Thanks, it looks like there is hope. Now that I think about it there is an Agave growing quite well in my back yard. We always wondered what it was. I'll try to get some photos of it soon.

I'm starting to think #6 is a Consolea rubescens. I just can't track down any Opuntias that are remotely close in appearance.

I saw a similar plant at the store today and it was labeled Aloe haworthioides. All I can say is that it looked idenitical and that's what it was labeled. Could be a different plant and could be mis-labeled.
