The seed are from Mams., Discos., Melos., and Frailea asteroides. Thinking of putting them all in a shallow pan divided by sticks or straws.

Re: Best wattage for succulents and cactuses
I found twenty packs of seed in a drawer that i collected from different plants in 2015. Would it be possible to get any germination or would it be all in vain?

Re: Can I give a cactus a winter rest by putting it in the fridge.
My neighbor in Ohio use to take her specimen size Echinopsis in during early fall. She put the plant in the basement food cellar where there was no light and the temperature was about 50 F for the most part. Around Easter she brought the plant outside and acclimated it to light and water and by May ...

Re: I Can't Identify This Plant
I indicated that it was growing in a four inch plastic pot and that it was from a seed that germinated in another one of my potted plants. Perhaps I did not make myself very clear.

Re: I Can't Identify This Plant
I am inclined to believe that the plant might be either Buiningia purpurea f. caespitosa or Buiningia brevicylindrica. Seeking other opions. https://www.google.com/search?q=Buiningia+purpurea+f.+caespitosa&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=wPRii6TlXYpaEM%253A%252CrXbRNlzlcHhR3M%252C_&...

I Can't Identify This Plant
I hope that someone on the forum can identify my plant. I have no other plant in my collection that closely resembles this plant. I discovered it about three years ago as a very tiny seedling in the pot of another plant. I suspect that a seed was in the pot of the other plant that I purchased somewh...

Re: Pachycereus marginatus with misplaced areole
On the subject of Cereus, I have a large Cereus peruvianus monstrose in my landscape that is about forty five years old. As you know, it produces the Peruvian Apple. While observing flowers that it is currently producing, I noticed this three inch growth protruding out of an axile. Apparently a see...

Nice job with the photography Dave. Looks like you know your stuff. Sometimes I get lucky and get quality such as you have shown but certainly not as a general rule. But I can name numerous excuses for my failure.

Re: I really need some advice here
Tim, are you saying that local flora and fauna can affect the cacti? If so, what is the effect. I live in Central Florida where the summers are in the nineties every day and the humidity is almost that high. I used nothing but clay pots for years until I started reading all of the suggestions on thi...

Re: I'm having a baby!
Is this the typical reproductive process. That looks very weird. I have a Cintia knizei that became totally split and took on a crested appearance. Since there was no longer any apical growth, it branched in two places with both growths developing normally.

Re: Pronounciations
I read every post and found numerous ways to pronounce the names of cacti. I grow both orchids and cacti as a hobby and have indulged for years. When I was first introduced to orchids, a society member gave me a tape that was designed to be an educational tool to the pronunciation of orchid names. T...
