Re: how to root a tiny euphorbia

I think you did everything right, all there is to do now is wait. Sometimes tiny ones like that don't root all that readily from what I've seen, but your soil mix and lighting sound good

Re: Why is this happening to my Lithops.

I've only recently started growing lithops but that seems to be completely normal. I was told to not water until you see some wrinkly skin like that, so maybe it's just drying up a little. It looks like it's planted mostly in pumice or perlite so it may dry out quickly, which is a good thing. This t...

Re: Scarifying with sulfuric acid, then neutralizing

I have read (in a scientific article) that to scarify seeds of Adansonia digitata (baobab tree) you can use conc. H2SO4 or boiling water for 8 hours. Since conc suphuric acid is hard to get here nowadays I tried the boiling water method but no success so far... I managed to get one to sprout a long...

Re: Cutting off damage on cactus

I'd guess some time in early to mid spring would probably be best. If you cut now it would probably callous ok but wouldn't do a whole lot growth wise until the warmer seasons. You might be able to get that cutting above the damage to root over the next few months though, and then it'll be ready to ...

Re: Speed Up Dragon Fruit growth using LED lights at night

I don't know enough about this to offer any real advice, but as I understand most cacti and succulents use this CAM photosynthesis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crassulacean_acid_metabolism) so a dark period has some importance to proper growth. Epiphytic cacti such as dragon fruit/hylocereus may r...

Re: Is this a true Albino G. Mihanovichii?

Yeah and for some reason there's never seems to be any totally white ones that survive for very long, even grafted. Many people have had questions about albino seedlings and what to do with them but it seems like they always have a limited lifespan. Maybe some day I'll build a kind of frankenstein s...

Re: Dodo's first seedlings

While you have a point I kind of get what Dodo means too, I'm putting a hold on ordering any more seeds for a while as I'm pretty much broke at the moment. I've got lots to do with the seedlings I already have and I'd like to still be able to buy food and beer and stuff. And I don't think it said a ...

Re: Hana's cacti

Amazing stuff, the aztekium on the last page is beautiful; just got a few ritteri seeds sprouting so I can expect my own flowers in 20-30 years or so (might risk grafting one eventually but I kind of want a few to grow at normal speed). Also never seen a myrtillocactus geometrizans big enough to flo...

Re: What are you all reading?

I've got that same Lovecraft collection on my kindle ready to go, it was something like $2.00 on amazon. I'm sure there's some weaker works but I knew I'd have to learn about Cthulu and all that good stuff eventually. I've never really opened a copy of War and Peace but it always seemed intimidating...

Re: Could you help me ID this succulent?

It does seem to be an echeveria to me, and that's about all I've got. There are so many different kinds and the colours can vary depending on the condition they're in, so getting it down to an exact cultivar could be difficult. I've only got a few so I'm no expert, I'm sure there's people here with ...
