Just a quick question
Today at Lowes I bought a Cactus that was marked as "Pilosocereus baumii". I have looked and looked but cannot find a Pilosocereus with "baumii" attached to it! Is my cactus misnamed or is there really such a thing? I hate it when I don't have the correct name! If someone needs a...

Food coloring safe for succulents?
Someone wants to color a bunch of succulents with food coloring, just for fun. My question is this: is it safe for the plants? I personally abhor this practice but to each their own, I guess.
Food coloring is edible for us, but is it safe for plants?
Thanks
Karin

Re: Weird Stenocereus cactus
Thank you! I do think the plant looks very nice the way it is, I don't want to cut the stems off. When you look at the main plant the whole spiral top part is about 7 inches tall and grew this tall since I bought it. The stems grew last year! It's neat looking but odd!

Weird Stenocereus cactus
This cactus is 3 years old. I bought it small and it grew nicely. However, look at the 2 "branches"on the side, they look completely different from the main cactus! They grew out of the main plant! Straight spines etc! Is that normal?? The plant was labelled Stenocereus hollianus cristata....

KittiKat, seems to me this person committed a felony by coming into your home and destroying things! Here in Texas he wouldn't get far, we have GUNS! He invaded your sanctuary so to speak, which is your home and you have every right to defend it! Call the police. again, til you get some results from...

KW, your plants are overwhelming!! I don't know how you do it but I'm amazed how beautiful everything is growing at your place! You must have the 'golden touch' or something like that! Maybe special water?:-) I'm coming to Germany again this year, maybe I'll find my way to Koeln and see if your plan...

Re: SEED TRADING BAN?!?!?!
It's not gonna work! Who is going to enforce this? The Seed Police? Give me a break! I know our Government is trying to regulate everything so you will have no say-so in anything! It's not gonna happen! It's burocracy gone amok, once again! Hey, wanna swap some seeds? I have some listed somewhere on...

It's that time again for seeds!
I still have Mammilaria Nivosa seeds from 2014. That is a very cute cactus with a head full of orangy/yellow spines! Hardy and cute! I just started watering my Melocactus Matanzanus and he immediately popped out his pink fruit! The seeds are now drying and will be available soon if anyone is interes...

I had them covered with frost cloth and a tarp. No one died!!:-) they are not covered today of course and my GH is open today for f...

Where is your location, Kittiekat? I'm in east Texas and the temp right now is freezing! Tried to buy frost cloth at Home Depot but they had none! Too early for freezes!! Hoping my outside cacti will be ok, I have them covered with newspapers and a tarp. The temp in the GH is around 55 with the heat...
