I can assure you that they cannot. Even humans keep away from it's barbed thorns. Normal thorns that we meet here can be taken out with a needle and a keen eye but Opuntia's thorns have to be cut out. They travel forwards and that is no fun.

Re: Portulaca oleracea
Great. Remember it is a summer veg and it does beat the heat. Also if it works medicinally you might have a runny stomach but nothing to worry about. Herbal and Homoeopathic philosophy says a runny stomach means all the toxins are being ejected .

Known as Kulfa saag in this part of the world. It grows in summer 40c plus and traditionally it cools down the body. It is sour if collected early in the morning(yummy) but it loses the sour taste if collected in the afternoon. Cooked with yoghurt.

Re: O. ficus-indica
Do not know much about vit C but it was brought by the British to British India and planted on both sides of the railway tracks to keep stray cattle from wandering on to the tracks. So far I know of five kinds of pad Opuntia's growing wild. Vit C might be correct also because the tender pads are use...

Re: Problems in Grafting ... Need urgent help!
The summer solstice occurs exactly when the axial tilt of a planet's semi-axis in a given hemisphere is most inclined towards the star that it orbits. That is what commands nature, not light. The winter solstice is the solstice that occurs in winter. It is the time at which the Sun is appearing at n...
