Re: Disaster! Oil Dri turned to MUSH!!!

It is just the Oil Dri brand stuff and I bought it at Walmart. Have not seen any Napa products here and we only have AutoZone here it's a small town. I can least return 6 out of the 8 bags I bought. I just don't know what to replace it with in my recipe. Perlite won't hold up and I don't have anywhe...

Disaster! Oil Dri turned to MUSH!!!

I was just checking on one of my test piles of dirt for my raised bed and it was a pile of clay mush! I had a pile of dirt sitting in my bed out in the open waiting for the rest to be filled in, it has been raining on and off for the last few weeks. 50% of the mix is Oil Dri. I have just switched al...

Re: A few more ID for possible acquisitions

Thanx guys! The Myrtilocactus geometrizans came home with us along with a haworthia, Staplelia, peanut cactus (can't remember its proper name) and a mystery opuntia like one. Those pilocereuses (i'm sure thats goofy) are so tempting but I need to be sure I can keep them alive before I take them from...

Re: Wild Cajun cacti!

Seems the picture hosting site is down. I will try again. I realize that this should be in the Cacti places forum. I think I got an ID for one of them looks like the O. engelmanii lindheimeri. The one with orange flowers I don't know yet.

Re: Wild Cajun cacti!

The ones in the first picture are very pretty. But I'm a lover of opuntias. I probably have too many already but I find beauty in each one. The flowers also in contrast with its shade of green and overall shape are very nice. I am going to post close up pics on the ID board to see if anyone recogniz...

Re: Clay, ceramic, plastic... AAARRRGGHH!

You can grow in any of them. Probably what you shouldn't do is grow in a mixture because the difference between a porous clay pot and a non-porous pot is so dramatic that you'll struggle to provide the correct treatment for all the plants. Personally I don't like porous pots but they are helpful fo...

Epiphylum help! Can this be saved?

This was given to me to try and nurse back to health. My father in law said he picked this up on a trip to San Francisco a few years ago and threw it in a pot. And it's been out in the elements ever since. So it seems to have amazingly survived but what now? I was thinking to put it in a hanging bas...

Re: Some iddy cactus blooms

Oh I told him that too, I don't think it helped my case much. He said "but you already have so many of these that look the same" #-o He is starting to get it though. I have come to realize that the flowers are winning him over and his opinion of a pretty cactus is a bit different than mine...
