Re: Pereskia and the Origin of the Cactus Life-Form
I enjoyed a paper on the development of cacti based on the physiological models of water stress strategies not just a DNA based phylogenic relationship. I only skimmed over the manuscript and have much to read into its implications as you guys did. Hey my plant physiology water relations course at U...

Re: Trichocereus in full sun....
I am very pleased how various Trichocereus species do here in NE Florida. They can take the heat and humidity and survive in the winter although I place styrefoam cups on their tops with the occasional frost.

Senecio or Kleinia
Does anyone have a citation for a publication on the taxonomic realignment of succulents in these genera. I have started to collect these and enjoy their diverse morphology. Thanks Bobby Z

Re: Turbinicarpus
Yes I repotted all my four Turbinicarpus. I used around 70% fine pumice (broke down and opened a new bag) 15% perlite and 15% Florida sand from the B horizon from planting a Meyrer lemon, I added a measley dose of horticultural lime and bonemeal. The T. homipilus was around 6.5 cmand the T saueri 5 ...

Re: Turbinicarpus
Thanks for your commednts I used a mix of 40% pumice 40% perlite and 20% commercial catus soil with a sprinbkle of lime and bonemeal. It is probably too rich in organic. The vweather here is still 27 to 30 C day and around 18 to 24 at night

Re: BromeliadGuide?
The best place for interactive discussions on Bromeliads is Planet Bromeliad on Facebook. Although there are many nifty species especially Tillandsia and Aechemia, many of the outstanding Neoregilia and Bilbergia are hybrids. I have a collection of over 50 species of Tillandsia and representative sp...

Re: This weeks blooms
I just received a triple stem Hedgehog blooming like yours fom a friends place outside Tuscon. I named it E. engelmannii, looking at yours in bloom I feel competent. She has a 16 head Hedghog in full bloom and she can smell it several meters away. I am definitely Arizona dreaming. Thanks for shaing
