Re: Really impressed!
I only started in 2012 as well and this last year I have seen incredible improvement with the growth of my plants. The first year was pretty horrible. The soil mixes/watering schedules/feeding schedules were pretty bad, but I've learned so much. It is definitely an addiction. I have probably 300 pla...

Re: What to do with Mammillaria seed pods
I had some lophophora fruits with my breakfast this morning! I wait til they just start getting squishy but still a bit firm then I pick them and carefully separate the seeds without destroying the fruit. Then I eat them. Loph seeds are easy to pull out of the fruit though, not sure how it is with m...

Re: What do I do with this piece?
Well you can plant them on their sides. And seeing as how the pup is sprouting from the body horizontally that's what I would do. I would get a long pot and put some dry soil in there, lay it in there so the pup is face up, put it outside in the warmth (but not in full sun), then wait for roots to s...

Re: My flowers this season.
My seed grown lophophora williamsii. Grafted I think october 2013. It has been flowering for the last month non stop and there are more buds forming. It's about 9cm wide and the flowers have been really big. They're pink, but my camera doesn't capture them well. Flower 1 P6050214.JPG Flower 2 P61202...

Re: Too busy to grow
That is one fat root. Wow!! This sort of happened with one of my baby L. albertos, but nothing like this. They weren't really growing so I pulled one out and the root was about the size of the top. Here it is next to a young A. caput-medusae seedling. Nothing really special, but I thought it was coo...

This is my first year getting a ton of flowers like this. I love it. It has further cemented my bond with cacti.
