Hi Hendry, I think your in the right track. I showed the same pictures to a couple of 'experts' and they came to the same conclusion, one says its a lavranos while the other Ehrenberghii.

Looks like a monstrose form of Euphorbia, probably trigona.

The leaf formation and flowers makes me think G. brachyphylla, except that your plant has fewer white spots.

This has no significant odor.

The smell comes from the sap of the plant, when it is bruised or a leaf breaks off.

Could it be that the Spring flowering cactus was grafted onto a different species that was cut to have the same appearance as the Spring flowering cactus?

It sure looks like it is grafted on to a Hylocereus stock.
