Re: Hana's grafting 2020~2021
Hi Frank,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I have delayed grafting to pereskiopsis this year due to weather, was hoping to have started already.
Hopefully we get good warm weather soon.
Best of luck with your grafts and I am looking forward to seeing future updates.

Re: Hana's grafting 2020~2021
Great to see a new thread from you.
Are you having any issues with the cooler than normal weather?
My pereskiopsis is very slow to start growing this year.

Hi Frank,
I use blood and bone fertiliser and also soluble fertiliser.
It snowed where I live now so it gets very cold, still in Victoria.

Re: Re: Hana's grafting in 2019/2020
Thanks for sharing your progress so far.
I am still waiting for new shoots of pereskiopsis to reach size.
Since where I live now weather is cooler they took longer to start growing again. I am expecting a reduced period of time in which I can graft.
Looking forward to seeing your progress!

Re: elongated gymno seedlings
I very much doubt they are gymnocalycium seedlings.
Gymnocalycium seedlings can take extreme shade without stretching in the slightest.
Personally I grow gymnocalycium seedlings under very heavy shade as I find they grow faster and stronger this way.

Re: De grafted Astrophytum advice needed
Thankyou for the advice Frank. I have successfully followed your degrafting advice in the past and cut out (as shown in your picture) the stock plant. The largest asterias must be at least 4 years old as it is very large. Roots coming from the stock appear to be strong and healthy but the stalk of h...

De grafted Astrophytum advice needed
Hi folks,
I recently received a couple of de grafted asterias which still have a very short hylocereus stalk which is completely dried however it has produced roots.
Should I just plant it and rely on hylo roots or do a full degraft and cut the hylo out?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Died and no clue why Mammillaria bocasana 'FRED'
I cannot be sure of your particular case but I have read that sometimes Fred just turns his heels up! Personally I grafted the first one I purchased and have 2 others on their own roots that I will also chop up and graft. The ones on own roots are doing well but we are just coming out of winter in A...

Re: conophytum seed pods
Fantastic!
I've got a few lithops with seed pods currently maturing.
Think I may use your method for opening and collecting the seeds.

Re: Echinocactus horizonthalonius - seed treatment?
Thankyou everyone for the replies. I am not sure how old the seeds are, at least a few months at a minimum I would guess and they've been with me for several months now. I'll be happy with 2 of each as I can then produce my own seed. It is very interesting that they grow better after the seed has be...
