Re: Haworthia. What is the correct name?

Thanks for that info. It has puzzled me why the H. bayeri has always been a bit dearer on Ebay.

Haworthia. What is the correct name?

I am an avid Haworthia collector and just recently I bought an H. bayeri which has been on my want list for ages. Imagine my surprise when looking up my bayeri I found it to have a synonym of H. correcta which is one I've already got in my collection. Can some one please tell me they are different p...

Re: Young Cactus ID please

I have had a very long look at most cacti on the market and the one that mostly resembles it is a very young Austrocylindropuntia.
It could be Austrocylindropuntia verschaffeltii
If any one has any other ideas let me know. ](*,)

Young Cactus ID please

I bought a lot of 30 Cacti and every one had a label except this one. I'm at a complete loss as to what it is called.

Re: Mammillaria ID

I have also looked at the Mammilaria camptotrica. Ian's suggestion was M. decipiens ssp campstotricha but I have found a very similar cactus called Mammillaria camptotricha cv. Marnier-Lapostolle ("Curlispina"). I might put the two names on, one under the other.

Mammillaria ID

I have had a Mammillaria for quite a while now but I have never thought the ID was fully correct. I bought it as a M. camptotricha but I think it might have a different name. I would like someone to confirm if possible. My first picture is of a Ferocactus stainesii but I've Googled it but it doesn't...

Re: Showy Flowers

Hi Phil, I wasn't actually referring to you as a so called expert. I'd written it very badly. My main intention was to get at those faceless people that sit in offices around a big table and decide to change the name of a plant. As you said in your post on the other thread it is totally unnecessary ...

Re: Showy Flowers

I'm hoping you are just joking when you say "people are changing names every five minutes just to give themselves something to do". It is certainly a gross exaggeration whether in jest or not. The flowers are beautiful regardless of the name. Lot's of hybrids being made commercially and t...

Re: Showy Flowers

It's what it says on the label and on another forum they have questioned its genus so I maybe think it may be a hybrid. I'm not really bothered though because I don't think even a thoroughbred could flower as good as they have. There are people changing the names every five minutes to give themselve...

Re: Help to ID this cactus

I'm no expert but it looks like a Euphorbia meloformis. I'm sure some one will come up later and give a more secure answer. I am saying it isn't a cactus because it hasn't got any areoles.
