San Pedro buds, no flowers
Hi all, I have a potted San Pedro that put out three flower buds back at the end of April and they appear to have stalled. I haven't noticed any significant growth in the last week or two. At the same time they are not dying. Should I just be patient? Should I be feeding more? I was under the impres...

Re: After 32 days ----Grafting & hydroponics
I imagine an aquarium bubbler and something to block the roots from light would help very much.

Re: Re-grafting on Pereskiopsis
Okay I'll give it a try. The only reason I didn't do this straight away is I typically have worse luck grafting larger scions and usually do it in the first few months of germination. This scion is now about 1cm across. I suppose we'll see!

Re-grafting on Pereskiopsis
Hi all, I recently grafted a seedling to a piece of Pereskiopsis and its growth is beginning to take off. Sadly this must have been an old stock and it is about to lose all of its leaves. Could I cut the stock such that about 1 cm remains attached to the scion, then graft this piece of Pereskiopsis/...

Re: First attempt planting San Pedro seeds: What now?
I am also not so sure that the above pictured cactus is T. pachanoi. If so it is likely a cultivar that has deviated significantly from those growing across the southwest and Mexico due to its long spination.

Re: Lesions on Lophophora williamsii seedlings
I have used the baggie method for L. williamsii successfully by removing the seedlings from humidity after 1-2 months. The extended time you've left them in the bag paired with the seemingly very organic substrate probably caused this issue. Before sowing I wet the medium and microwave for 1 minute ...

We prefer iPrOH to IPA "in the business" to avoid just this confusion

That's a pretty heavy duty lamp for young seedlings, even if they're a few feet away. Probably light stress.

Re: First attempt planting San Pedro seeds: What now?
They're still quite young but they don't look much like San Pedro seedlings to me. For the winter give them lots of light but cooler temperatures, and you can withhold water to prevent rot. Their medium looks quite organic so this is rather important. No humidity.

I tried this with a ripe pineapple once and it promptly rotted. One of the worst smells!

Re: Lophophora?
Was it recently degrafted? The rib pattern looks just like a young graft that is about to take off. I don't typically see the "bubbly" rib pattern on top in my own-root seedlings.

Re: Cacti Guides' Lophophora Guide
From the green color of the skin and diffuse (go figure!) rib pattern I'd stick with diffusa as well. My koehresii tend to be darker and bluer, as stated above. Here is the same grafted plant that I posted at the top of this page, now with an even larger flourish (7 flowers from 5 heads). This is by...
