Re: Good places to get Cactus
I figured I'd drop a plug for Paul's Desert in Shertz TX (just north of San Antonio). Hes got tons of ariocarpus, astrophytum and other cold hardy cacti. I dont think most of his stock is seed grown by him, but he's got a great selection that you can browse (better than shopping online, IMO). Plus h...

Re: graft on Harrisia stock
Thanks for all the input! I purchased this bare-root and it has always been thin...(about 3 wks) I will water it more often. We are still hitting the high 80s F here in Texas. I've always been a little confused on what softness means in a cactus..I've heard that rot (due to too much water) can...

Hello everyone, I wanted to ask y'alls opinion on this graft. I recently acquired this Mammilaria perezdelarosa v. gold spined on what I think is Harrisia stock. I am wondering about the health of the stock, it looks rather thin and I have been watering once a week, it is in full sun. I have never g...

Re: C and D's Succulents
very nice pseudolithos! Here are my new P. migiurtinus. I am always afraid to put so little organic material in my mixes. But I have put these guys in 2.5 in pots with 3/4 decomposed granite/limestone chips, 1/8 composted leaf litter 1/8 coarse sand. Watering once a week until night temperatures rea...

Re: ❀My Growing Diary❀
I enjoyed reading about your seed starting experience. I have had better success with starting freshly collected seeds from my own cactus garden here in Texas.
The seeds I bought online (Ebay) didnt germinate very well...
Also have you visited Paul's desert in Shertz? hes go a ton of great cacti!
