Re: Hope to I.D.

I think the two in #3 are Cleistocactus strausii and the ones in the #2 are either Cleistocactus winteri or maybe Weberbauerocereus johnsonii

Re: Melocactus ID

Yeah I can totally see that Snowcat. My other thought was M. bahiensis. It's just that a lot of Melos look the same to me when you take into count variability of species a lot of them blur together for me. Thanks

Re: A few Ids please :)

Thanks guys. I think the only one I am sure about now is the second one which I think is definitely the Eriosyce taltalensis v paucicostata. I'll wait for flowers and reevaluate.

Well after years away from the world of the cacti obsessed I have wondered back to a desert locale and I am starting to dilly dally in the world of cacti again. Thank goodness I am a broke college student now and can't spend all my money on plants. Anyway need some help here with some id's I'm a bit...

Cactus Sale

I wanted to let those of you who may not have already been made aware by being customers of mine that I will no longer be selling cacti on eBay and I am selling the majority of my collection. I know that Daiv is sorry to see me leaving the hobby but directions in life often change. the following are...

I guess that's the good kind of month doing some pollinating. I had a few plants last year that got it good when the burrowing months came through. I believe they lay eggs in the plant and then they hatch out making a hole I guess. I don't know if any knows what I'm talking about.

I would love to know if you had particluar technique for germinating these guys. I have a few in my collection that I didn't start form seed and they do great here in Tucson much better than when I used to try them in California. I think they need the hot hot summers we have here. I know someone who...

Nice Daiv. I came across a bunch of those with as many as eight heads on them last year I sold about eight of them and kept one that is doing great I think it has eight heads around it. Here are some other pics of that one and another great flower pic. It's interesting that it's fruits are held insi...

Very nice. I think that the Mediterranean climate where you guys live is perfect for Epis. I don't think there is anyway that I could grow them well here in Tucson without a lot of control over the climate. They'd cook in a day here in the summer time, shade cloth or not. It's just too dry and hot h...

I love the bushy fur on those guys. It reminds me that I should start collecting more of the columnar types of cacti. Great pics as usual Daiv.

Bill, I guess I'm refering to potassium. The second time I fertilized this year I went with a heavy nitrogen dose but now I've swithed to a ratio that's cactus specific. I used to use natural fertilizer like fish based stuff but I realized it's too lite on the potassium, so I had to suppliment to ba...
