cut/break off->leave on tabel out of direct sun for cut area to dry/heal for a week -> place into pot and dont water until roots form.
more or less thats the general procedure with few variations for easier species

my money is on light. heat sure, but if the heat is right, and its sunny day vs cloudy day for some day bloomers, it means the difference between open or not. cant say much as all plants differ, but i really notice this here with day bloomers like Lophophora, Frailea, Gymnos. then other day bloomers...

thanks for the tip Gallows. Funny how when i lived there i had no idea it existed! We will be bringing all our plants back except the large trees/wines/cacti etc. anything small, and cuttings/seeds of the big stuff. we will still have land here in Taiwan as well, so nothing will be really lost.
