To be honest, I'd be inclined to leave it indoors. Find a sunny windowsill, put the plant there and let it be. You'll most likely find that the plant will be quite happy, and you may even find that you'll get flowers.

Re: D'OH!!!

Those are great plants. I'm really envious of your collection. :D I've been watching this bud with excitement... It must have flowered on Christmas eve while I was out Carolling... I forgot to check on it when I got back home... Man, I hate it when that happens. I was in Western Australia when half ...

G'day mate. If you're interested in getting more of these, you'll find that they are quite common. Bunnings always seems to have them in stock, as do many nurseries. You'll also find that they are often fairly inexpensive...

Nice plants, CP.

Just wait til you see the flower on the arachnacantha. I have one the size of your new specimen, and it was putting out flowers the size of my outstretched hand. It's a very cool little cactus.

Love the Cleistocactus and the Hatiora too. Both are on my "must get" list.

G'day mate, and welcome. I'm sorry to disappoint you, but without a photo it's going to be impossible to ID your plant. However, take heart that many, many species of cacti fit your rough description, so I'm sure you'll be able to find a replacement plant. If your heart is set on getting the same sp...

Now *that* is dedication!

I must admit, however, that those are great photos and that page is undoubtedly a good resource for what is definately a confusing genus.

Dragon fruit is being imported here in large quantities and i have seen it for sale in markets, and even in suburban supermarkets. Really? I've wanted to try growing dragonfruit from seed for a while, however a local source of seeds had until now eluded me. I wonder if the local greengrocer can get...

...does Parodia mammulosa have a longer flowering season or flower later on? Your Rebutia muscula appears to be the normal round ball shaped form, which is perhaps common and characteristic. Mine are all tall and long growing form, but not etiolated since they have been grown in full sun their whol...

A few more flowers....

Well, even though our weather is rather unpredictable at the moment (beautiful sun one day, an inch of rain the next), my cact are still doing their thing. I've always had such a wide variety of hobbies - gardening, scale modelling, martial arts, home brewing, electronics, music, tabletop wargaming, reading, golf, sailing - it's never really been a surprise to anyone who knows me that I grow cacti too. The added advantage is that when I go to a party, ...

John, your contribution was truly excellent. I really enjoyed reading CotM and SotM whenever it was posted. It was nice to see articles on these plants that actually gave a bit more detail than just a name and a photo.

With the restrictions in place in Australia I wonder what the future holds? Unable to bring new seed into the country there is an even greater imperative to propagate plants brought in years ago. When were imports banned? Is there much work within the country's societies (there are several, aren't ...

I had a flash of déjà vu for a moment then before realising we really have done this thread before.
Cactus flashback, eh..? Is that like something that happens when you get a contact high from hanging around too much San Pedro and Peruvian Torch?
