Re: Please help with ID

Yeah maybe shiki-shiki is better than scheek-scheek

In Portuguese the "que" in the end of the many words sounds like "qui".

Pilosocereus gounellei is not very tall but instead it is multibranched. Here are some pictures of this species in the habitat in northeast Brazil: https://www.naturezabela.com.br/2011/03/xique-xique-pilocereus-gounellei.html?m=1 Here are the pictures of my plant: 20220907_134012_copy_600x800.jpg 20...

Re: Please help with ID

Xique-xique is the popular name of Pilosocereus gounellei (yes, it is now a scientific name too, but before that it was/has been the name people from the region of occurence of this plant - northeast Brazil - call it). I can't imagine how to pronounce it in "latin" or English. In Portugues...

Re: Root fungus?

I cant see the round things...hard to say anything

Maybe you could clean the roots and take out all substrate. Wash and trim them , try to remove sick parts and let it dry for some days before repoting.

Sorry I can't help too much

I believe that it is caused by spider mites but I cant find them. Any help will be much appreciated P.s. : I gave the plant...

Re: Copiapoa humilis?

Hard to tell for me. I always get C. humulis and C. hypogaea mixed up when they're that small... Thank you very much, Lactus. I had a C. hypogeae lizard skin once, so in my mind C. hypogeae is different from C. humilis (but maybe lizard skin is different from "normal" ones). Now I'll try ...

Re: Gymnocalycium horstii ssp. buenekeri: Male or female?

The ADBLPs list reports self sterility/fertility but most of the self-sterile are monoicious species and will always have male and female parts in the same individual. As far as I know, dioicy is the exception and is not common in cacti. Maybe only a few examples can be cited? Or am I wrong? The li...
