Re: Disease identification help
On the pads that you cut off did you by any chance bisect them to see if something was in the infected area like a worm or boring insect? Not sure if a fungus would cause that sort of bleeding but a boring insect of some sort would. Could you post a better close up of the infected area?

Re: Echinocereus and Gymno ?
Gymno does look like a G. Baldianum - they have beautiful flowers by the way. Yours looks pretty small.

Re: ID requests
#4 ferocactus glaucescens I believe - looks a lot like mine. Does your plant also has red spines on top? No - not at the moment. But check out the cactusguide.com home page for Ferocactus and you will find it on page 7. I think the red spines are just new spines growing but mine was originally gett...

Re: So I got this cactus...
Concur with Euphorbia grandicornis - water well every two to three weeks (pot seems large but don't know how big the root ball is). Check soil before you water and if your not sure if you should water that week - don't. You will kill them quicker with over watering than you will with under watering....

Re: At What temperature - - -????
thanks for the info. We are do for thunderstorms for the next 2 days with temps in the low to mid 70's. Will keep track of the night time low temps and maybe get in one or two more waterings before I stop and move them to the winter storage area.

Re: Rocks on top of soil!
I usually use aquarium gravel. The lighter colored gravels seem to have mare quartz. Some people don't like top dressing but I find that it helps to distribute the water evenly around that pot as I water.

Re: At What temperature - - -????
Thanks for the reply Steve. It won't be until the middle of next week that the temps will be dropping but it has been in the mid 50's at night for the past 2 weeks. My Mamms seem to like it as I have two that are blooming and of course, the E. Domino is shooting up another flower stem. If I read you...
Re: Oops
Looks like it could be. I have several plants that I have had to move my "bright shade" area as they were also fading to yellowish.
Whats odd is that two of them have been in full sun all summer and just faded on me recently.

At What temperature - - -????
Starting next week things are finally beginning to cool off. The daytime temps will be in the mid to upper 70's(F) and the nighttime temps will be dropping into the mid to upper 40's. At how low of a constant night time temperature should I start thinking about moving my collection indoors/winter st...
