Re: My Epiphyllum oxypetalum bloomed! - Timelapse Bloom video
Yes nice flower and great time-lapse. Probably the largest of the true Epiphyllum flowers (not the so called Orchid Cacti wrongly named Epiphyllum's) since some can be quite tiny flowers on long tubes. One of the best set of pictures of the true epiphytic cacti before the hybridisers got hold of th...

My Epiphyllum oxypetalum bloomed! - Timelapse Bloom video
Hello :) I just wanted to share the video I shot of my Epiphyllum oxypetalum blooming two nights ago. When these flowers bloom they only last for one night so it's a pretty special occasion. It was such a beautiful bloom, accompanied by a strong, sweet fragrance that filled the room. I'm so glad I w...

Flocking - Is that the technical term for the specks? What are they, technically?Robb wrote:(if you rub off all the flocking)
Does an Astrophytum produce more "specks" when exposed to more sun in comparison to those that have grown in areas with less sun?

GREAT share, thank you so much. I've found myself in the same boat as the OP, wanting to know more about these strange plants.Tony wrote:Check out Martins site! Stapeliads
For instance, this may be a dumb question, but can you cross a Stapelia with a Huernia?
Thanks!

Re: Stapelia Species Help
Thank you both so much. I think you guys are correct.
I should have known it was a Huernia. I actually have another Huernia, H. zebrina.
Thanks for your help!

Huernia Species Help : Updated
Hi everyone, I have a Stapelia that was given to me as a small cutting, by a friend last year. This is my first time seeing it bloom and I can't find any similar flowers online. EDIT: This has been identified as a Huernia schneideriana. The flower is just a little larger than a Quarter. :?: Does thi...

Any Crested Saguaro in the Glendale / Arrowhead area?
Hi everyone,
I'll be in Arizona in a few weeks visiting family. I'm going to try to find some time to visit a park to photograph some native cacti. I would love to be able to get a picture of a crested Saguaro if anybody knows where one can be easily found?
Thanks for your help!

Yes they're alive still and are beginning to look like they might actually grow some now. :) They're great plants to update on every couple of years - showing off another couple mm in girth. ;) dvg Any chance these little guys are still growing? I'd love to see some new pictures!! Fantastic job, bt...

Re: ID please, I think a Saguaro
I'm pretty sure it is a Saguaro. BTW, Saguaros are very slow growers but Saguaros that receive more water, will grow faster than one in the desert. Or so I've read. I'll try to find a link to the article.
