Re: Fungus gnats in seedling trays

Take the lid off and pray that they dont eat everything! My treatment for a mild infestation was:completely dry the pots, repot everything in a moist mineral supstrate, get everything back in the humidity box and anyway new gnats appeared in a week or two. Now the lid is of, everything is dry and st...

Re: supergodzilla seed growing

Im getting tephros from ADBPLS soon and plan to just soak the seeds in warm water overnight. I read somewhere that the crucial thing is getting them as soon as they germinate out of the humid atmosphere. Will get back with the results...

Re: R.I.P.

I try to purchase two of the plants I find interesting now, trying to at least produce seeds to replace them before I kill them :) https://imageshack.com/a/img921/4346/vBCpTL.jpg Here is a beautifull R.I.P. display :( In the foreground blooming is Gymnocalcyum horridispinum, on the right is Matucana...

Re: Updated seed lists

I ordered two! I decided I will give them a chance, so except intertextum and tanigaense I pretty much picked them by the cuteness of their name :D In the end, there was 29 cuties, one of Parodia and Lobivia. Fraileas are going to wait next season.... Gonna have a lot of Gymnos in a couple of years :)

Re: Updated seed lists

New find and a very good resource: http://www.richtstatt.de/gymnos_v3/news.php?l=en . Volker Schaedlich sells seeds of Gymnocalcyium, Frailea and some other South-americans, mainly with his own field numbers. Some of the seeds are from habitat. The service is excellent - i got my order in a week in ...

Re: Dodo's first seedlings

Dodo, try Frantisek Nechvil, he is superfast! I ordered on the 3rd October and I expect to have my seeds in Croatia today or tommorow. I also like early sowing so Nechvil is my first choice. The list is not so extensive as ADBPLS or Succseed, but the quality is good and I have decent germination fro...

Re: Questions for mineral soil mediums

Xerophilia has a new special issue nr.6. Its written in Romanian(they are working on an English translation). It is written by the same guy that wrote Stone Eaters so there must be some new insight about the theme. Can someone convert it and run it through Google translate? It seems very interesting...

Re: Cactus nurseries in Slovenia?

I think that Astrocactus is legit, but the site is a mess, Majcka would know more about it. I bought some cacti from Exotica.si, not online(their site is also a mess). Since postage is pretty cheap, you can always order from German nurseries - I like well documented plants so I prefer Germans.

Cheers

Re: One man went to sow ......my diary

Sulcos are hard to germinate, thats also my experience. I sowed 11 field numbers from 4 seed supliers and germination is 34% after 6 weeks. The method is the same as with all my seedlings, and Sulcos have the smallest germination numbers. Pity, since they are my favourite plants for now. Ive been co...
