Rainwater something about it really helps . storing it is not the same as when it falls out of the sky . M herrerea is always a tricky plant to germinate , somtimes 100% mostly about 10% .

Usually you can see the tiny white insect under its shell if its scale . I like to re-pot in winter also, plants are not full of water and soil is dry plus its not hot. And I wont water for awhile which is also a good idea when transplanting cactus.

Cochemiea theresae save any seeds that didn't germinate I have noticed they will germinate for the next 2 or 3 years.

one the day after watering and it was already dry. " Maybe that's why they stopped growing ? My seedlings usually slow down or stop as I dry them out I do this to prevent rot . Eventually they will start growing again as I change to a wet then dry cycle like adult plants.

Turbinicarpus jauernigii already flowered here and some others are forming buds now . And some do flower off and on all year . Miles2go in AZ usually has a good selection for sale off and on during the year.

hi Jerry, yea they don't like it at least for bonsai . years ago I noticed it caused fungus on my cactus seedlings so don't use it.
