Re: Germination question - Euphorbia, Aloe, Haworthia Rebuti
Progress report 2 months in: Rebutia violaciflora - Last week I finally had my first sprout! It had been cool all week, so I guess it preferred the lower temperatures. Aloe microstigma and Aloe glauca - still 0% germination. I think both of these were rotting off from fungi on the seed before they c...

Plants, cuttings, seeds list, free or swap, UK/Europe
I am based in the UK, so happy to post to UK or Europe only. I have several of the following to give away or preferably swap: Haworthia venosa ssp tessellata - rooted offsets - typically 4-5cm Echeveria echeveria secunda v glauca (a clone that's been in our family as "Echeveria glauca" for...

Re: Transplanting cuttings
You haven't said what your cuttings are, so it's hard to say, but if they are happy in pots why not leave alone for now? They are probably still growing at the moment, so let them get a bit more established without disturbance, and transplant them at the start of spring when they will have the full ...

Re: Agave cuttings?
New leaf and stem growth normally only occurs from a bud or other defined growth point. In some succulents (Echeverias and many other Crassulaceae), there is a growth point at the base of each detached leaf, so they are generally easy to grow from whole leaf cuttings. A few species of Kalanchoe even...

My bet:
1 Adromischus cristatus
2 Crassula perforata
A sharper photo would help for 2

2,3 and 5 in particular look as though they need much more light. A sunny window or a sunny spot outside are needed.
Where do you live? Many opuntias (and some other cacti ) can cope with a lot of winter cold if dry, but not wet and cold.

Re: Echeveria elegans indoor wintering tips, please
Dry, bright and cool / cold, but frost free is ideal. They are pretty hard to kill really, cold and wet is the lethal combination. I don't expect a very light frost would concern it if its totally dry. They get a bit leggy with age even if grown well, cutting them back and rerooting or planting the ...

Your first Euphorbia looks like E. trigona. The second looks a bit more like E. pseudocactus, but I'm not convinced.

Re: Peanut, Barrel, Or Something Else Entirely?
I'd say it's a type of Echinopsis or Lobivia - they closely related, and some botanist reckon they are should all be combined together as Echopsis. So it's related to the peanut cactus, but it will stay spherical for a few years at least, rather than being cylindical. Most people (certainly north am...

Re: Mamm. theresae etoliated/light issues?
It's not just leaning, it's really stretched out too. It should be far more compact. I'm guessing the lean has only become apparent after a growth spurt and changing windows wasn't a factor in this. Water, warmth and fertilisation could have contributed to the growth. When you say it gets "dire...

Interesting!
So how typical is it for cactus grafts to be able to grow, other than from an aereole?
Is this a peculiarity of Astrophytum c-m, or is it quite common?

Yes, looks a lot like E. eyresii, also known as Echinopsis oxygona.
It's a traditional windowsill cactus, with Aloe variegata it's a classic combination.

Looks vastly more like an Eriosyce than a Ferocactus, maybe Eriosyce senils ssp. coimasesensis?
