Mine are flowering like crazy. But the flowers only open up in the late afternoon, and its hard to get decent photos since the lighting is bad.

You can probably leave them in the dark from Nov - April and they won't do anything. I watch my grafted plants all year long to see when they should be growing. They do nothing most the year, no matter how warm or watered.

There's no A. ornatum in their parentage. They probably are Onzuka X asterias or x coahilense(sp?)

But it is funny that the myrio (any form) crossed with asterias has little spines.

Thanks Darryl I'm not into all the lumping that the Anderson Guide is so bent on doing. But no system is perfect, so I guess it works for some. I just miss some of the names, and probably will never change any of my tags. But the Mesa Gardens name system is probably the opposite of lumping, some nam...

I've grown alot of faucarias from seed. They don't show their adult form of colors and teeth the first year. They stay kind of generic, then the 2nd or 3rd year you can tell them apart. They may flower the first year though. I love faucarias and have about 20 varieties. My wife says I'm obsessed wit...

I water over the top of all plants, to clean off the growing point, except the ones which grow large amounts of wool, like ariocarpus etc.
I water around the base of the plant otherwise.
Some plants wool is not effected by water, other plants wool gets matted or washed off.

We had some of those little devils show up on our E. obesa flower stocks just last week. Its amazing that you can really never get completely rid of mealy bugs, fungus knats, thirps, and spider mites. The only answer is to spray any time you see them, and then spray everything once or twice a year.

Its great to see everybodies plants, I especially like those picta's. I've been growing Haworthias for 15 years now and mostly grow the slowest and hardest to grow species now. So will inject some propagation tips of my owm. No.1: I use more pumice in my soil mix for Haworthias than any other plants...

Haworthias; photos and growing info

I haven't seen one Haworthia on this forum yet. I now everybody has some, so post any thing of interest, and some growing tips. They are hard to grow well, but so rewarding.
