Re: Vgames collection

Absolutely stunning. What's species are IMG_7716.jpeg and IMG_7718.jpeg? The wool on those is beautiful. IMG_7722.jpeg is a S. phyllacanthus? I recently purchased a 3-headed S. tricuspidatus, which is apparently the same as S. phyllacanthus. It looks very different than the S. phyllacanthus I have. ...

Re: Vgames collection

Beautiful plants! What's genus is IMG_7656?
Looking at previous posts, you seem to have a few Echinofossulocactus/Stenocactus. Got any new pictures of those? :D

Re: ID Request

Your ID could be correct. Your plant has etiolated growth. You need to introduce it to a spot with more sunlight (but gradually, not suddenly). Which leads me to the following, do you mind adding where are you are from, what type of weather you experience on an annual basis? If you intend to post re...

Did you take a look at the roots of the affected cacti?

Re: Help to recognize the disease

They went into summer dormancy perhaps… but that doesn’t explain why it’s not happening to other genera. What else do you have growing?

Re: Sterilize Cactus soil

As far as I know fungus gnats need moist soil in order to survive. Since the soil will mostly be dry, I don't think they pose a significant threat.

Re: The Cal-Mag of my dreams?

Unfortunately I only made just enough for potting up the E. senilis. I will make a second attempt somewhere next spring. The mix is a bit too coarse when compared to your photo's. I have no sieves in between 1x1mm and 5x5mm, so I should purchase a 2x2 or 3x3mm sieve in the future. But yeah, the plan...

Re: Nice to meet you all from Indonesia (and an overview on my plant journey)

Welcome to the forum and thank you for taking the time to write such a lengthy introduction!
I see you already dived into the cultivation section of the forum regarding fertilizer. I was part of that conversation and learned a lot from it.
I look forward to seeiing photo's of your collection.

Re: My GreenHouse Build.

I noticed some Echinofossulocacti (Stenocacti). Are those E. pentacanthus?
You basically have a cactus garden. Maybe a setup with some rocks in the future? :D

I don't think it's M. sphaerica. Yours has a yellowbrown upwards oriented central spine.

Re: The Cal-Mag of my dreams?

The loam I have is rich in clay, which is something I tend to forget. I did a sediment test already a while ago. It's a bit of a mystery to me how a soil with a pH 6 in combination with a fertilizer solution pH 6,67 results in a soil pH 4,9 (1 hour soak). I'm watering my cacti tomorrow. It's quite s...

Re: The Cal-Mag of my dreams?

Hey Steve, Thank you again for figuring this out. Perhaps some European members were reading this and know there is a suitable CalMag supplement available for them. I once did a test on the loam I have to determine the composition. My findings were posted on the forum (somewhere). I think it was low...

Re: Fertilizers explained (2-part presentation) -- with 6/2023 update

As always, great discussion on this thread. Mike and Steve, do either of you guys have any thoughts on whether this fertilizer regimen would be ok for agaves or ocotillo? If not, how should it be modified? I use it on all my cacti (and succulents). This is only the first year, but so far so good. T...

Re: The Cal-Mag of my dreams?

I have been emailing with info@biobizz.com and there's not other email address. So I don't think I will make progress on that front. My substrate consists of 4 parts grit (small stones, approx. 2/3mm), 5 parts pumice (no dust) and 1 part loam (not sand, more on the clayish side). I honestly think it...

Re: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

A view of the miniature coldframe/greenhouse in my garden. Since it is not that sunny anymore I took off the shade cloth (50%). Upcoming summer I will use a 30% cloth, because the 50% blocked too much light. To determine the light levels I used a DLI meter (daily light integral) ( https://www.specme...
