Re: ariocarpus fissuratus

I would say that it is not flowering size. While I have not yet raised one from seed to flower, I have not seen Ario fissuratus flower at that size. Mine seem to have grown some wool on the top for a little while before flowering. I'm not saying you should take what I said as a guarantee, but it is ...

Oh my gosh! That's crazy! Glad everyone is okay. Sounds like it took some skill to go from a u-turn to nearly crashing through your house! I do hope you get some really nice landscaping out of this!

Fall flowers - a lovely way to end the summer. While I prefer spring and summer as a season, I do look forward to fall to see all of my Ariocarpus bloom. Fall can be filled with flowers as well - as many of you have demonstrated. The question is, which photo should win? To view all the submissions, ...

Re: The Making of Tuna Jelly - Photos

I just like the idea that most people think of the fish when you mention tuna, and the look of shock and horror they make when you replace "jelly" with "tuna" in contexts where the fish would be disgusting. But I'm sure the tuna jelly is delicious. I have never had it but I have...

K.W., You certainly have an amazing collection of plants! This may seem like a strange comment, but I can't help but notice the large Astrophytum asterias in the background that looks like it is imploding on itself, in the following photograph: and today 66984 http://i56.servimg.com/u/f56/16/32/30/7...

Re: The Making of Tuna Jelly - Photos

Hmmm... peanut butter and tuna sandwich! I brought some of my tuna jelly to our local Cactus and Succulent Society Club meeting for people to sample and a couple people mentioned the same idea. I'm allergic so I won't be the one to try it, but if you like peanut butter, I imagine it would be very g...

Re: The Making of Tuna Jelly - Photos

I just sampled the finished product on some crackers and I have to say, it turned out delicious! \:D/
I was worried that it wouldn't be any good, or that the texture wouldn't be jelly/jam-like, but it really turned out perfect in my opinion. I couldn't be more pleased! :)

The Making of Tuna Jelly - Photos

I started by harvesting ~65 Tunas (Opuntia fruits) No, I'm not making jelly from fish! Opuntia fruit is called Tuna. I harvested the fruit off of a huge, old, Opuntia englemannii var. linguiformis (Cows Tongue) that lives on an old abandoned property near me. It is just a plot of land now, and has b...
