I use 1/3 sand and 1/3 sandy soil from the desert and 1/3 dry stall pumice for mesembs , same for cactus but maybe less sandy soil for cactus . lava rock I have used with mixed results same with turface. Bare root the seedlings and wrap them in soft paper and put in a box and fill all empty space in the box with paper or foam pellets whatever is light.
If the box weights more than 10 Oz and you use stamps it will be returned by the post office .

Winter growers nice time of the year in S CA . I just planted some Mesemb seeds 4 little pots one of Lithops brandbergensis, One of Conophytum maughanii and one of conophytum IDK my own seed one of Agyroderma and not sure which species . All germinated now to keep them going.

They look good . When they get bigger I water them less often about the same as Ariocarpus which is not more than 1x a month

Azomite ? " Azomite 44 lbs Micronized Organic Trace Mineral Soil Additive Fertilizer ' never used it but have seen it at garden centers it says its volcanic dust.

Flagstaff has weather volcanic soil . Probably other places in AZ also ? Owens valley where mono lake is has lots of interesting volcanic geology.
