Re: San Pedro Problems
I don't think you need to throw out the soil that your cactus is planted in, but you can amend it with some porous, well-draining mineral substrate, and you don't have to break the bank to do it. Re: San Pedro Problems
I'm not trying to stress you out any further, but that soil mix looks like it has way too much organic material. Most good mixes have at least half inorganic lightweight substrate, such as pumice or perlite.

Re: Why Not Group Cactus and Euphorbia Together in Forum Section Names?
I come here to read about and discuss cacti. I don't want to have to sift through any Euphorbia posts. So I vote "Cacti" and "Everything Else."

Yes. Coryphantha. I find its almost always difficult to idea species in this group. To make matters worse, they readily hybridize.

Re: Looking for Escobaria vivipara v. vivipara
I will look at others for seed fruit in the morning. This one has 3. I gently pulled and two came out easily though they still show green skin. Might have picked too early. Vivipara fruits are green when ripe, then turn a bit more yellow or brown as they dry out. If you can pull it off with little ...

Re: Etiolated cactus pup. Need some help/advice.
If it was my plant, I would slice off the new growth to where the last bit of normal growth is evident. The cactus should send out new pups from the point of injury.

Re: Cactus from Mexico
I would say Echinomastus, as well. The spine clusters are classic Echinomastus. Also, while the pictures aren't great quality, we should still be able to see some semblance of grooves on the tubercles, if they were Coryphantha. No grooves.

Do you know how old the seed is? Coryphantha definitely has an expiration date.
