I bought the seeds from a local, Australian seed supplier but I think origianl seeds came from Europe. As you can see, pistils are also red/pink color.
I could not get seeds last year but I collected some seeds this year.
I will germinate seeds next year and propagate as own-rooted plants.

Selected super kabuto

Super kabuto's gene is quite positive. When you germinated from seeds, quite high ratio of seedlings show the character of super kabuto. I do 1st stage selection when seedlings are 2 years old. I sowed seeds in 2006 and selected 210 seedlings in 2008. I did 2nd stage selection lately and selected 35...

I cut several tubercles with pups and rooted lately. The attached photo is a rooted tubercle with a pup. The pup has started to grow....

Christer The stock is Harrisia jusbertii seedling. You can get about 200~300 seeds from one fruit and can make a lot of grafting stocks easily. It is possible to start using 3 years old seedling as grafting stock. Although I keep several grafted plants for the collection of seeds, almost all will be...

Seedling grafting in 2009

I graft seedlings in this season every year. This spring was wet and cool. Last 3~4 yeres were drought but I am not sure this year. Since it was cool and growing of grafting stock was bit late, timing of grafting was also delayed. I use heating plates for seeds germination and numbers of pots on eac...
