Re: Is this a disease or is it normal?
Just to help you figure out what is going on, I am sending pictures of my plant of the same species. It is perfectly healthy and nevertheless it has a white stuf. This white stuf is the new growth of the plant. This part of the plant will always be white. However it seems you have mealybugs also, wh...

Re: A Mammillaria mutant or what?
Ok...so... is it a mutant (which I really enjoy) and not "formally " named as brevispina, although this could be a good name for it... Did I get it right? It is curious to have two plants with the same mutation. Which makes me think of the original source (which I dont know). I'll try to c...

Re: A Mammillaria mutant or what?
Thanks for the replies So "brevispina" is a condition that can happen to any species, such as monstrose, crested or variegated? Is it a mutation? Or some species have the variety "brevispina"? Wow...~6 years in the forum and I never payed attention to brevispinas...very happy to ...

Tephrocactus articulatus papyracanthus?
How would you call this plant? The only name I can find for this one is Tephrocactus articulatus papyracanthus. However, I have another plant tagged with this name, and it is quite different: segments are much more rounded and the spines are shorter, with wider base and are more curling (plants in t...

Re: Is Turbinicarpus alonsoi self fertile?
Thank you Frank for the information
I dont have Strobocactus so the pollen donnor must be another plant.
Here is a picture of the T. alonsoi with a new fruit coming up.
Seeds of the previous fruit resulted in zero germination.

A Mammillaria mutant or what?
These two plants were grown from seeds of Mammillaria sheldonii. They are different from the other plants (normal sheldoniis) of the same batch. What are they? Mutants? Other thing? 20221224_094638-01_copy_800x798.jpg 20221224_094629-01_copy_798x798.jpg The flowers never open...they keep this way, a...
