Interesting greenhouse plantation. Pots are set close to each other but looks like all plants grow in one bed. Good for the owner to take care of so big collection at such age...

March: Days of my cacti lives - in pictures

IMG_2344sm.JPG My Christmas cacti preparing for a second, March bloom. Even now it's snowy outside and days rapidly increase. IMG_2345sm.JPG IMG_2351cm.JPG This Texas mam already blooms 3rd month despite of dormant look of other cacti on the windowsill around it. Kept fully dry since October or so.

Re: columnar identification

Another possibility is Pilosocereus chrysacanthus, who's stems get greener sooner. Spines are golden and point down. Also it is a common mexican cactus.

Re: Sick cactus - what to do?

And my apologies for being blunt about it, but 8-foot tall columnar cacti aren't suitable as houseplants -- they really need to be outdoors where they get plenty of sunlight and good ventilation. That was my first thought when I saw pictures. Even in a greenhouse these cause lot of problems for gro...

Groundhog day

Groundhogs hibernate in winter. But one sunny day they emerge from the burrow and remind us that soon spring comes. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53502630017_231a2bfd17_c.jpg Maybe in 6 week (or more in Canada), maybe sooner, so not much time for winter repotting is left for us. Next will star...

Yea, these cacti or parts of it often lay on the ground so they are trying to root. No matter now hard the grower tries to keep the plants upright.

Re: Winter is a time to re-pot!

Hello, i never heard about repotting cactus in winter, for me it seems like a joke (sorry)... Im planning to repot a few cacti in spring before first water, is that ok? It is OK, if you can do it all at once. But if some of them are with buds or start to bloom they may not like it and drop some of ...

Re: Winter is a time to re-pot!

Where I am at,cacti have to come inside early October. With no greenhouse, that means low light, very little water, and relatively cool temps. In theory they are dormant,or growth has all but stopped. So it is a perfect time to re pot. March or April when they come around they are good to go  Th...
