Which needs more winter sun - cactus seedlings or adults?

I'm having a lot of trouble fitting all of my plants into my sun room for overwintering, and sunny spots are at a premium. So my cacti will either get some sun or just bright light over the winter. Question is in the subject :) I assume that the cactus seedlings (most about two years old) should get...

Why does anyone use land lines any more?

NOT SPAM :) I've had a land line since longer than I can remember, but recently abandoned it. Cost of a regular phone: at least $30 Cost of my new pay-as-you-go cell phone: $10 Cost per month of my old land line: $18.69....but then add on E-911 Tax, Federal Excise Tax, VA Communications Sales Tax, V...

Two bulbs, one for ID

Yes, that's pushing the definition of "succulent" a bit. :) My Scilla violacea/Ledebouria socialis three years ago: http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii249/spoon99/Plants/DSCN8954squilla.jpg A crazy bloomer: http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii249/spoon99/Plants/IMG_2985Lsocialis-1.jpg I...

Harriet, you got some serious splainin' to do! :) Just because it isn't rare, collected from habitat and impossible to keep alive (so of no interest to euphorbia snobs) doesn't mean it isn't one of the nicest euphorbias! Tony, I notice that your plant has both cyathia and well-developed seed pods at...

I should be more patient! http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii249/spoon99/IMG_0899Tp.jpg What I thought was two flowers turned out to be four, the first one on the left, fading: http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii249/spoon99/IMG_0903Af.jpg As much as I love Euphorbias, I get a little thrill whene...

A little color from the end of summer. Beautiful pics, even if the subjects themselves are a little scary. :)

Again, great pics, and thanks for sharing them.

Pretty fly (for a white guy) :)

Peter, those fly pics are outstanding. Did you take them?

Looking forward to little red Corvette.

Beautiful Sarracenia too.

1. As an 8 y.o. boy in a small town, drag everything you can find in nature (polliwogs, snakes, ferns, lichens, etc.) into the house and try to keep them alive, much to your grandma's distress 2. As a teenager, start growing cacti & other succulents, until you have about 200. 3. Sell off all you...

You'd think that after a couple of years, it would learn not to grow its spiral leaves around its flower stalks...but you'd be wrong :)

This is the time of year I dread most. Last week, high temps near 90. This week, low temps in the upper 40's. I'm hoping that by growing my Euphorbias a bit harder, I'll have fewer losses next spring. This time I'm prepared for the cold! http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii249/spoon99/IMG_0771heate...
