Re: Two new cacti (Feros???) -- and an attack on my computer
IDing many Ferocacti species at this size is very hard.
Taking a guess, I think the first one is Ferocactus alamosanus.
Not sure on number two, other than it not being F glaucescens. F glaucescens is very distinct, even at a young age. They normally have yellow spines with no red in them.

Echinocereus?
Found this in a local hardware store.
I assume Echinocereus going from the spine form and fluffy flower buds, but I'm not real hot on them.

Re: Please help ID this spiky cactus!
Echinopsis chiloensis.
It's a species that likes full sun. If it's burnt, you didn't acclimatise it properly. I'd suggest giving it some shade for a few weeks or months.

Both Cactiguide and Llifle list them as a separate species.
Edit: CITES and Tropicos list them as separate.

That's really pretty.
I bought a bunch of Echinopsis flower hybrid seeds about 2 years back. Now I'm just waiting for them to get a bit bigger.

Tips for retrying seeds in takeaway containers
I'm not sure how common it is, but on a not-insignificant number of takeaway containers containing seeds, I either get no germination or very little germination (say 1 in 10 seeds). Usually, if I don't get anything after several months, I will open up the container, let it dry out and put it on a sh...

I would like plants or seeds of this as well, but I'm not sure anyone in Australia has any. I would love to be proven wrong.

Re: A Unique Saguaro
I wonder why it grey that way.
I had a sunburnt Rebutia do this, but that's a very soft cacti, letting it curl from the scar. I'm not sure how a large, woody cacti could do this.

Re: Prune or trim roots Question?
I'm going to disagree with the general view here. When you trim roots, it triggers a plant response to grow new roots. This is important as before depotting, the plant's roots are evenly distributed through the soil. But once you repot the plant, it's basically impossible to evenly distribute the r...

Thelocactus, possible Thelocactus and a Copiapoa
Thelocactus tulensis I think?
Thelocacus?
Original tag is hard to read, but I think it said Copiapoa echinoides. Hoping someone can confirm.
