What are thses black dots? Are my babies going to die?

I did save an article by some cactus grower (I did not write down his name though), which calls these spots on your plant "tip pimples". They are not a problem that will kill your plant. The article states, that these dark spots will most likely form scar tissue but not spread. I have seen this kind of cosmetic problem numerous times on cactus plants, especially those fast growing columnar types (Stenocereus, Pachycereus and Trichocereus).
I do not know exactly what causes the problem to appear but is is similar to a blister on human skin.
If the lesions do increase rapidly and the tissue becomes soft and either ooze appears or little pimple-like structures, then you should be concerned and take action.

That looks kinda like what was on my O. ficus-indica.
It has mostly gone away and the pads are fine, if a lil shriveled in the middle, maybe from it drying out. I don't know.
Here's to you, all you insidious creatures of green..er I mean cacti.
