I get spammed, but I always have. I don't think joining this forum has had anything to do with it. It's my guess the spammers got your email from some other place and it's just a coincidence that you started getting more after you joined here. The only way the spammers could get your email from here is if you posted it so everyone, including the spambots that collect addys, could see it.

I don't get spam on my charter email, which is what is linked to this forum. So no. My other email, Gmail, on the other hand, NOT linked to here, I am always getting spam, but that just seems to be a gmail thing.

I wish you would verify this connection with absolute certainty before making the accusation that your SPAM is a result of this forum. I really don't want potential members to get scared off from joining because of mere conjecture.

Can you provide some conclusive evidence that your perceived SPAM increase is a direct result of this forum?

I am leaving this topic here as a reassurance to others that unless they make their e-mail address public (which gonefishen24 has not done), then you will not get any SPAM from this forum.

Does the heading say "Replica Watches Rolex!Rado!Breitling" I started getting those too but I think they've ceased I'm not worried about it though as my email is spameriffic just wanted to see if it's the same one. For the record I made my email public and understood the chance I was taking in doing so.

EDIT that doesn't mean I, in any way think this forum has caused me any spam your girlfriend using your email to sign up for something called favecrafts however will fill your box to the brim with things you don't want

I have noticed an very large increase in spam over the last two weeks, but I have no reason to believe it has to do with my account here, I have been a member for much longer than that and not had any problems before.

I get next to no spam and I've been a member of this forum for quite some time.

It's highly unlikely that you're going to get spam from a forum unless you make your email address public or put it in your signature or a post.

Even then, like if you make your email public, doesn't mean you are going to get spam. I would suggest looking at other activities on the net, as those lead to more spam...

No spam here!

I can't seem to get rid of or block the old mailing lists I've signed up for in the past but nothing unexpected.

These days it seems spammers try random combinations to make their mailings, and nearly everyone I've known has received at least a couple of international bank scam emails, (nigeria based usually)

I don't think cactiguide could get you any spam

While I am sure that spammers can randomly generate almost anyone's email address I have sent them mail before and most of them if they are honest will remove you form their e-mail database.

NB if you follow the money the Nigerian scams lead to Russia, if I am not mistaken
