They are in ground now...I'm worried about them.

They both look fine to me. I can't say as much about the Yucca, but the Opuntia will almost certainly start taking over the place in no time!

The yucca may take a season to start top growth but don't worry too much it's growing underground the whole time. They usually put their initial investment of resources into root developement. You may lose a few of the leaves from the lower tier but as long as the growing point dosn't get crispy I'd say your good.

Thanks....what about watering the Yucca while young? How often?

I water Yuccas all the time in any conditions. So long as they aren't sitting in a swamp they'll be happy with it. Maybe they don't like water in extreme heat? Older plants will have sent big fat roots down a long way and will need watering less often. Which species is this?

It's a baby Yucca Rostrata (Beaked Yucca)
