Cacti propagating by cuttings?

Post by gemhunter178 »

I heard Leuchtenbergia principis can be propagated by cutting and rooting a tubercle. Is there any other cacti that can by propagated this way?

Have't seen it with a Leutchy, but i have seen it done with Ario. retusus. It's hit or miss trying to root tubercles, ive seen more success grafting tubercles that rooting them.

Not sure if it regrows a taproot or not. The few ive seen hadnt really formed a full rosette of tubercles yet. Although one i saw grew a normal looking rosette from the originally rooted tubercle, looked really weird, but it worked! I think they may have had some pretty thick roots mixed in with all the fiberous ones, but nothing close to a taproot!
