Re: Sierra Garden 2012
Gorgeous E. bonkerae, John! But I think I've checked & they're not hardy enough for Z 6b !
Once bitten by the cactus collecting/growing bug, there is no known cure!
There's no 12 step programme for Cactaholics...so I shall just have to get some more!!

Your yard looks like I wish my yard looked! I get more inspired (and more jealous) every time you post pictures.
It’s not the fall that kills you; it’s the sudden stop at the end.

Thought I'd show off a Echinocereus coccineus that bloomed last week. It looks like it may be fully fertile what do you think?

Re: Sierra Garden 2012
Hey John, I think you should expect some seedpods on that from my un-professional opinion. It looks like a few of the pistols at least received some pollen anyways, but I could be totally 100% wrong, since I have had one Echinocereus bloom that I could watch, which promptly got removed by a dang javelina...
even if you get no seed pods, it's got pretty flowers

Here's to you, all you insidious creatures of green..er I mean cacti.

Well if not a perfect flower - at least a male.

Really beautiful plants, flowers and colors!
Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize that we cannot eat money.

Your cacti are all so happy, John! Magnificent. Outstanding. Unbelievable. Words pale in comparison to the colors in your garden. I will reiterate that you have created an incredible space. One question: How do you weed? Or have you forbid them to enter your property?!
Catch a falling star--but don't try it with a cactus!
