Re: Clean Up
That is a lot of HARD work! It should produce results in the long run.

CHM - That sequence -- complete with new growth is unbelievable From only 5 yrs since last prune & requiring chainsaw! No wonder O's are banned in Ozzie land! And we're worried about Aliens!
Once bitten by the cactus collecting/growing bug, there is no known cure!
There's no 12 step programme for Cactaholics...so I shall just have to get some more!!

That fresh growth is looking good! ...at least it's not adding on to the huge plant before....

hmm. If you sent me a piece of that cholla, it's C. spinsior. I love the purple flowers on them, I have hybrid ones that grow much like C. spinsior but the flowers are different. And btw yes they will grow back.
Ron, I dont know why people don't want to give you pads.. I usually have one or two laying around that I could probably part with

Re: Clean Up
Looks pretty cool! In two months it has grown pretty fast (for a cactus)! No wonder you had to cut it back!

Re: Clean Up
btw mine cylindropuntia are all taking off this year due to a very wet summer. The stems you sent me have both added about 6-8 inches. One was leaning over and I thought it was going to die, but it didn't. Is the cholla C. spinsior or C. imbricata?
