A few more to post. My Echinopsis continues to surprise me. The E. triumphans v. florepleno was sold to me to have white flowers. This morning it bloomed and it ended up to be purple. Too much light this morning and made it look more pink. Not unhappy that it is purple, I'll just have to get a white one now. The Harrisia simpsonii was one of my first cactus that dates back to the early 80's. They freeze back every year and I take cuttings to replace them if they don't come back in spring. These were in my greenhouse and the first time a cutting has flowered. I have six and all have buds. That flower is six inches across.

The one in the grouping still to flower is a Schick hybrid, Sunset. It looks to be purple to me also.

Nice ones!

Hrmmm, Harissia simpsonii looks awfully close to Nyctocereus (Peniocereus) serpentinus. I don't think they were ever synonyms...?

I have had it named by both names. Tony went with P. serpentinus and at our local cactus club I brought in the plant and the person gave it the name, H. simpsonii. I figured having the plant instead of a picture of it would be closer. After looking at it on CactiGuide I'm going with P. serpentinus. Nevertheless, it is one of my favorites. :D

Indeed, the flowers are a great show. Give it a good amount of space if you plant it out, it gets unruly and eventually makes a big snake pit, but a cool snake pit 8)

I had mealies on my 'Rose Quartz' too, but they seem to be leaving it alone this year. The cactus itself is really plumping up after the winter and lots of buds appear to be forming. Yours looks wonderful. They certainly are profuse, aren't they?
