Hi everyone. This cactus has me baffled as well. I thought it may be a Parodia but on closer inspection there is a flower bud showing at the base of the plant.
Description: W=3". H=2". Ribs=21. Radial spines=8. Central spines=2 short & 1 long.
Once again, any help identifying this cactus is appreciated.
John

Certainly an echinopsis, but which one is very hard, if not impossible, to tell.

Could also be Lobivia ferox but flowers will confirm if it is one or not.

"Thank You" to all those who have helped in finding the identity of this cactus. As Salazar says the flowers will confirm for certain what it is. The bud is still just sat there doing nothin much at the moment but I'll look forward to when it flowers.

Re: Help Identifying Cactus #3
I am still a bit confused as to the ID of this cactus. You would expect Echinopsis aurea to have a yellow flower but as you can now see it has flowered red. I did some further research and found a reference to Echinopsis aurea var. dobeana which flowers red so it could be that.
It has also been suggested that it could be Echinopsis ferox. Flower colour can vary from white, pink, red, yellow or bicolour.
I also thought that the flower stem of Echinopsis to be a lot longer. Could the short flower stem indicate this to be a cross/hybrid?
Still not certain which particular cactus this is. Any further ideas will be much appreciated.
