Cactus Propagation

Post by msniepes »

Hi. I will be trying to propagate my very etiolated cactus. However, I was wondering if the mother plant will be okay after I cut the thinner long parts? I don't want it to be wasted. Thank you!

What I would do is, first I'd cut of the etiolated part, I'd discard those etiolated parts, then gradually increase the plant's sun exposure. The plant will produce regular offsets if you provide enough light, you could leave those offsets on the mother plant and let it clump or you could remove those offsets and root them.
