Glorious. Can we see some of the other plants she has? I see some big ones in the background.

I've posted a few in the recent past. I just dug 8 plants out of her yard that had overgrown their original spots or my mother doesn't care for them. I'll take some pictures of those, too.

Run for your life it that thing starts flying around! It has some of the nastiest hooked spines in the business. The Pepsi was the closest universal scale object when I thought about taking a picture. It still doesn't give a true picture of the scale of this thing, IMO.

I have one grown from seed from this plant that's about 6" tall and some more in the seed incubator. I bought this one in a local nursery not knowing what it was, but it was a clump, which was good enough for me at the time. I went back to the nursery and they still had one plant, but they didn't have a good ID on it.

Wow!
Is it running on drip irrigation?

Most of the time. The irrigation at my parents house can be intermittent. It's on the same line as row of S. marginatus which are definitely not overwatered. Maybe tubby there is getting all the water before it can get to the S. marginatus.

No, it doesn't run much, as far as I can tell. My parents have the flakiest irrigation I've ever dealt with. If it was running, it would probably run a few times per week for about 15 minutes in the summer.
