For some reason I’ve been having the same trouble this year, for astrophytum from mesa. Maybe bad harvest year, or my mix has too much organic material. Ive never had problems before.

I’ve also had trouble w c dealbata from mesa. Tried 3 times w this, they never live more than 3 months. Ive seen whole fields of this plant in chile and I cant get one to grow!

Love this thread!

Hey thanks for the comment! I realized I was over-misting the A. myriostigma ssp. tulense, and they were rotting. More than any of my other seedlings, these ones like to get bone dry before receiving any water. Now I wait until they shrivel!

I’ve also had issues with Copiapoa from Mesa. Often the seedlings are very weak, barely grow, and eventually die. This is not uniform, however. A couple Copiapoa species are doing great. I’m not sure whether it’s an issue with the seed, culture, or species.

Turbinicarpus pseudopectinatus. I planted 10 seeds from Mesa on February 7, 2019, and 7 sprouted. These have been out of the baggie for about three months. I realize they are getting to much light, so I moved them to a dimmer location. It seems Turbs are more likely than most others to turn purple in moderate light.
