euphorbia identity

can't seem to find this one online. columnar tubes with fine thorns running up the sides with a crown of small appendages. Currently in a pot but I'd like to plant it in the ground, I live in the California low desert. I do not know how big it will get or sun/ shade, waster regime, etc...

austrocylindropuntia subulata, it's a cactus.
