Epi first time blooming
This Epi bloomed today for the first time since I've had it. I've tentatively identified it from CactiGuide here as E. crenatum, except it appears to lack the dark reddish outer (enclosing) petals. They were a very pale greenish white. It has no odor. It happens to be in a pot with a different hybrid Epi. It was several years ago I tried to root several cuttings and must have left this one with the other, not paying attention to its different stem as they matured. Its sides are alternately scalloped, as opposed to the symmetrically 'notched' type on most Epis. Its stem can be seen in the first picture at the very bottom right, hanging over the edge of the pot. Another vertical stem is visible in the third picture at the left standing solitary between two petals. Does anyone know the name of this species, or is it some unnamed hybrid?
Catch a falling star--but don't try it with a cactus!
