Ok, so the problem now is how do I pot it. The roots are in the crater. If I just put it and fill it up there would be a hallow center. Here's how I potting it( mix is inorganic to prevent mold(fungi) growth)
Chose a appropriate pot and fill it with a layer or grit to increase drainage.
Now fill it using the appropriate soil you want ( 40 grit 60 sand(not dust))
Now here comes the problem: the hallow center. I read somewhere to use a clay based soil and fill in the crater, I feared that this could cause it to solidify like a cement once it dries up or cause rot. So using the mix I made a small sand mount simple as that, now place your melocactus on top of it like this start filling the sides and when doing so tap the sides of the pot to allow the mix to settle down. . Now let's call it a day after giving it a good watering
Those spines look really good when wet .
