Agreed, Stetsonia coryne, it requires all the sun you can give it.

Had in full sun and it was turning a yellowish. Put in indirect and it turned darker green.

The sun's hotter in So Cal than in Moscow. Still, don't shade it too much. As Llifle puts it, " Need full sun avoiding only the harshest summer sun, if kept too dark they may become overly lush and greener and could be prone to rotting..."

Thanks Spence. Yeah, I will slowly introduce it back to the sun. I think it needs more

The yellowing may have been due to heat more than the light - how warm was it when this happened?

The problem could be the sun hitting the pot, the roots getting too hot. The light-colored gravel on the surface helps, but doesn't help with the sun hitting the side of the pot. Shading the pot may be what's really needed.
One way to do this is to set it inside another, larger pot - one large enough so there's an air space between the two pots. Anything you can come up with to keep the sun from hitting the pot side during the heat of the afternoon will help.
