DO I overwinter these Succulents

Post by mkirker »

I have these two succulents and was wondering if I need to give them a winter dormancy period. They will be in a south window in a spare room in upstate NY, the room will have a heater set to 50 degrees F and I will forgo watering them until mid-March. Is this too cold for them? Should I take the small rosettes off first? Does anyone know if the ID labels are accurate? Any help will be appreciated.

The set up looks OK. It is normal if these loose some leaves for the winter. No need to remove offsets.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.

50deg will be plenty warm enough - I think they would be totally happy with just frost free, so 40 deg would work fine. They may grow a bit at warmer temps, and get a bit leggy, it depends how much light they get.
