Re: My greenhouse and plants
Repoted a M. bombycina today. The roots look fine, grabbed all the grit. The sand like particles are broken diatomite. I use to see huge clumps of bombycina in the web and wonder if mine will get this size some day. Repoting and giving it space to grow must be the way.
Other plants in bloom (or not). Looks like the red color is hard to photograph
The surprise of the week was the flowering of the Sulcorebutia arenacea. I was afraid that my climate is not sufficiently cold for them to bloom, but fortunately I was wrong.Other plants in bloom (or not). Looks like the red color is hard to photograph

An "african trip" in my greenhouse. Pictures of the african corner (mostly Euphorbia and Pachypodiuns).

A very worthwhile amount of time to read every page. Your "continents of cacti" are amazing. The soil mix post was very informative and interesting .
I also make pots and use cement, Terra cotta dye and textiles . Old Beach towels, rags, stocking hats, etc. With some interesting results.
The progress over a few short years is also fantastic, even with the move. The nocturnal tours is great!
Did you make the black and red pots?. They look like fired clay turned on a wheel but kind of rustic.
I really like your presentation style as natural landscapes, Thanks for sharing, inspiring and motivating me.

The black and red pots are terracota pots painted by my wife. She mixed latex paint with common white glue and coarse sand, and painted the pots. Them sprayed with a fixing thing (forgot the name). They are lasting much longer we have expected.

Re: My greenhouse and plants
Five years in the hobby and I can say that collecting cacti is very rewarding.
When I started, I wouldn't believe my plants would be like they are now. So much progress in such little time. You don't have to be patient. It is not "slow" when you have seedlings, flowers and such to see.
Thanks to the forum I have learned a lot. Here are some pictures of today.
Turbinicarpus pseudomacrochele
Sulcorebutia tarabucoensis subsp. patriciae
Sulcorebutia arenacea
Some of the flowers of today

Re: My greenhouse and plants
Hi Keith, thanks for the comment.
This Mammillaria ...well, I will post a better picture of it in my identification thread "Identifying my Mammillarias" and ask for ID. I am not sure it is zeilmanniana (due to the rounded petals) but I don't have any other name either.

Updating
Curently I dont have much interesting in non-cacti succulents besides Euphorbias. What I had in my collection when I started was totally different from what I have now. I'm each time more into cacti only.
Here are some Euphorbias:
As for the cacti I'm inclined to grow the north american ones (Turbinicarpus, Mammillaria, etc)
But I also have some Discos, Fraieleas and Gymnos...
As you may have noticed I like to stage the plants with rocks ...
Collecting cacti is a matter of choices...when space is limited you have sometimes to give away some plants to give room for more. This is good...with time you end up specializing in what you like more. And I think that in the future I will have more and more mexican species and less of the others.
