I tried to root several Strombocactus discidormis which were degrafted scions last year.
Unfortunately I failed to root just one scion.
It seems the scion is still alive and I try reroot. I set it for rerooting today.
Photo 1: The scion failed rooting last year.
Photo 2: Since the scion had a large hole on bottom, wet cray grain was filled in the hole.

Re: Degrafting
I degrafted 12 scions in this morning. Scions are 2years old Ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus cv Suguri cauliflower.
Since scions are not large enough, short Pereskiopsis stocks are remaied, which were buried in potting-mix.

Re: Degrafting
Oh, I'm really interested about A. ritteri rooting results. So far I haven't heard of successful attempts of degrafting those. Your specimen is quite big, that probably gives it better chances.

Re: Degrafting
G'morning Nino_G,
Frank
I normally reroot cacti which were more than 3 cm in diameter. Small ones will be dried out before developing new roots.Your specimen is quite big, that probably gives it better chances.

Re: Degrafting
I degrafted 12 more godzillas in this morning. They were in 8 cm square pots except one. I could not remove from the scion and so the scion went into a 12.5 cm square pot.
